In the spring of 2004, the Minister of Culture awarded them with the

label "Remarkable Garden".

This award is granted to gardens open to the public that have a cultural, aesthetic, historic or botanical interest.
This label goes beyond the scope of traditional gardens which may or may not be listed among the country's historic monuments to include gardens of recent creation. The label is endowed for a period of 5 years and may be revoked or renewed.
The criteria taken into account for its attribution are: garden composition, the integration of the design into the landscape, the quality of the garden's surroundings, the presence of remarkable features (water features, sculptural plants, and so on), the interest of the gardens, and their quality and maintenance.
Les Jardins de l’Imaginaire is one of 13 gardens having this label in the Aquitaine region and 324 in mainland France.

In 2007, the gardens also received the label created in 1999 by the Minister of Culture and Communication:

"20th Century Heritage"

This label indicates the remarkable buildings and urban features of the last century's achievements that represent remarkable material evidence of our society's technical, economic, social, political and cultural progression. The objective of the label’s attribution is to raise awareness of modern architecture, a subject that the general public often finds obscure.

Les Jardins de l’Imaginaire is one of the 36 sites with this label in the Aquitaine region, and were the first gardens to receive the label in France.
