A discovery circuit aboard the ‘Terra Sunt’: 40 minutes of relaxation among nature and history.
Terrasson is the largest town in the Dordogne crossed through by the Vézère. From 1 May to 30 September, embark aboard the ‘Terra Sunt’, a covered boat seating 30 passengers.
The comments of your guide are alternated with moments of pure contemplation to help you travel through time with the flow of the water. You’ll hear the history of cargo barge mariners and of the Vézère river.
Aboard the ‘Terra Sunt’, a boat named for the monk Sorus, you will discover that the economic prosperity of the Périgord revolved around the river. The Terrasson area was an abundant source of table wine before grape phylloxera struck the region. The last cargo barge disappeared from Terrasson in 1937, faced with the ruthless competition of the railroad.
Your discovery circuit will also provide you with another point of view of the historic district and the natural heritage of the Vézère river.
Afterwards, you will want to discover the ramparts, streets and lanes, as well as Les Jardins de l’Imaginaire.
